Overview

The SEAGATE SkyHawk 6TB Surveillance Hard Drive is purpose-built for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. With 6TB of storage capacity, it provides reliable local recording for residential, retail, commercial and multi-camera CCTV installations requiring longer footage retention.

SkyHawk uses ImagePerfect firmware to optimise surveillance workloads and maintain smooth video recording across multiple simultaneous camera streams. It supports up to 64 HD cameras and an annualised workload rating of up to 180TB per year, making it well suited to demanding always-on security environments.

The reference ST6000VX009 model uses CMR recording technology with a SATA 6Gb/s interface, 256MB cache and sustained transfer speeds of up to 180MB/s. SkyHawk Health Management helps monitor drive condition in compatible surveillance systems for improved storage reliability.

Built-in rotational vibration sensors help maintain performance in multi-drive environments, while support for up to 16 drive bays makes the 6TB SkyHawk suitable for expandable NVR systems. Seagate rates the drive for up to 1 million hours MTBF and provides a 2-year limited warranty.
