Overview

The HIKVISION DS-2CD2366G2-IU is a 6MP AcuSense fixed turret network camera from the Hikvision Pro Series (EasyIP). It records at up to 3200 × 1800 from a 1/2.4" progressive scan CMOS sensor, with smart IR up to 30 m and 120 dB WDR for entries where bright sky and shaded porches sit in the same frame.

AcuSense deep learning classifies people and vehicles, so motion, line crossing and intrusion rules can be set to alert on real targets instead of moving foliage, rain or headlights. The -IU suffix adds a built-in microphone; this model has no speaker, strobe light or siren. The metal IP67 housing and 3-axis bracket suit eave, soffit and wall mounting, and the camera runs from 802.3af PoE (max. 6.5 W) or 12 VDC.

Key Features

AcuSense human and vehicle classification on motion detection and perimeter rules (line crossing, intrusion, region entrance/exiting)
6MP (3200 × 1800) at 25/30 fps with H.265+ to cut storage and bandwidth
Smart IR up to 30 m, 850 nm, with smart supplement light to limit over-exposure up close
120 dB true WDR plus BLC, HLC and 3D DNR for mixed-light entries
Built-in microphone with environmental noise filtering (audio capture only, no speaker)
microSD slot up to 512 GB and ANR for edge recording if the network drops
IP67 metal housing, 802.3af PoE Class 3 or 12 VDC

Ideal Use Cases

Residential driveways and front entries: The 2.8 mm lens covers a wide 105° horizontal view of a typical suburban driveway and porch, and AcuSense filters alerts to people and cars rather than passing shadows.

Eave and soffit mounting on brick, weatherboard or rendered homes: The compact metal turret is IP67 rated and adjusts on three axes, so it can be aimed down a side path or across a front yard from under the gutter line.

Shopfronts and small offices with mixed light: 120 dB WDR helps keep faces readable at glass doors where bright footpaths meet darker interiors.

Side gates and rear lanes: Line crossing or intrusion rules filtered to human targets give useful after-hours alerts on gates, bin areas and laneways without constant false triggers.

Strata common areas that need quiet monitoring: With no siren or strobe, it suits lobbies, car-park entries and mailbox areas where audible deterrence is not wanted.

Small NVR systems and kits: It pairs with Hikvision AcuSense NVRs for target-filtered search, and with 802.3af PoE switches or recorders on a single Cat6 run.

Buyer Tips

Pick the right lens before ordering. This listing offers 2.8 mm (wide, about 105°) and 4 mm (about 78°). Use 2.8 mm for driveways and porches, and 4 mm when you need more detail further down a path.
Don't confuse -IU with LiveGuard models. DS-2CD2366G2-IU records sound but has no strobe, siren or speaker. Choose the -ISU/SL version if the site needs active deterrence.
Check the NVR supports AcuSense events. Target-filtered alarms and smart search work best on a Hikvision AcuSense-capable NVR running current firmware.
Allow for IR range at the far end of the yard. IR is rated to 30 m. Beyond that, add a light source or a second camera rather than relying on IR alone.
Budget the PoE. At max. 6.5 W it is a light load, but add up all cameras against your switch or NVR PoE budget before installing.

FAQs

1. Does the HIKVISION DS-2CD2366G2-IU have a strobe light, siren or speaker?

No. The -IU model has a built-in microphone only. If you need flashing light, siren or two-way talk, choose a LiveGuard -ISU/SL sibling instead.

2. What does AcuSense do on this camera?

It uses deep learning to classify people and vehicles. Motion and perimeter rules can then trigger only on those target types, which greatly reduces false alerts.

3. How far does the night vision reach?

Hikvision rates the smart IR at up to 30 m. At night the image switches to black and white.

4. Can it run on PoE?

Yes. It supports IEEE 802.3af PoE (Class 3, max. 6.5 W) or 12 VDC, so one Cat6 cable from a PoE NVR or switch powers it.

5. Is audio recording legal in Australia?

Audio surveillance laws vary by state and territory. Enable the microphone only where recording conversations is permitted, and use signage.
