Choose this PTZ when a single camera needs to cover a very large area. The combination of 360° continuous pan, high-speed movement and 36× optical zoom makes it much better suited to large sites than a conventional fixed camera.
Use the 216mm telephoto end for distant detail. The horizontal field of view narrows from 56.6° at the wide end to just 1.7° at full zoom, allowing operators to concentrate the 4MP image on distant people, vehicles or specific points of interest.
Treat Hikvision's DORI distances as planning references, not guaranteed identification ranges. The published telephoto DORI value reaches approximately 302m for identification, but real-world results depend heavily on lighting, atmospheric conditions, vibration, target movement and installation height.
Auto-tracking is especially useful on large active sites. The camera supports manual tracking, event tracking and auto-tracking, allowing the PTZ to follow selected targets after supported security events instead of remaining fixed on one preset view.
Audio requires external hardware. The camera has one audio input and one line-level audio output, but no built-in microphone or speaker. External compatible audio equipment is required where recording or voice communication is needed.
Plan power and mounting carefully. This is a substantial approximately 6kg speed dome requiring 24 VAC or Hi-PoE and consuming up to 50W over Hi-PoE with the heater. A suitable PTZ bracket, secure mounting structure and compatible power source are essential.

How powerful is the 36× optical zoom? The lens adjusts from 6mm to 216mm, changing the horizontal field of view from approximately 56.6° to only 1.7°. Unlike digital zoom, optical zoom changes the lens itself, allowing the camera to capture substantially more real image detail from distant subjects.

Can the DS-2DF6A436X-AELY(T5) automatically follow people or vehicles? Yes. Hikvision specifies manual tracking, event tracking and auto-tracking. Perimeter events such as line crossing and intrusion can also use human and vehicle target filtering, allowing the system to focus more effectively on relevant activity.

Does the camera support licence plate or vehicle recognition? Yes. Its road-traffic function can detect vehicles and recognise information including licence plate number, vehicle model and vehicle colour. Performance depends on suitable positioning, zoom, vehicle angle, speed, lighting and configuration, so it should be installed specifically around the intended traffic scene.

Does this PTZ have built-in audio? No. It provides one audio input and one audio output but does not have an integrated microphone or speaker. Compatible external audio devices are required for sound recording or two-way communication.
