Overview
The Western Digital WD Purple 3TB Surveillance Hard Drive is purpose-built for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. With 3TB of storage, it provides a practical balance between capacity and cost for residential, retail and commercial CCTV installations.
WD Purple uses AllFrame technology to optimise write-intensive, low-bit-rate and high-stream-count surveillance workloads. This helps reduce dropped video frames and improve recording and playback performance in compatible security systems.
Using CMR recording technology and a SATA 6Gb/s interface, current WD Purple 3TB models deliver transfer speeds of up to 180MB/s and support up to 64 single-stream HD cameras. The drives are rated for workloads of up to 180TB per year, making them suitable for sustained surveillance recording.
Current 3TB models support systems with up to 16 drive bays and include RV sensors and tarnish-resistant components for improved reliability in multi-drive surveillance environments. WD Purple is rated for up to 1 million hours MTBF and includes a 2-year limited manufacturer warranty.
