Overview

The Western Digital WD Purple WD11PURZ 1TB Surveillance Hard Drive is purpose-built for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. Designed specifically for surveillance workloads, it provides dependable storage for residential, retail and small business CCTV installations where footage needs to be recorded around the clock.

WD Purple incorporates AllFrame technology, which is optimised for write-intensive, low-bit-rate and high-stream-count surveillance workloads. It helps reduce dropped video frames and improves recording and playback performance compared with using a conventional desktop hard drive in an always-on security system.

The WD11PURZ uses CMR recording technology, a SATA 6Gb/s interface and 64MB cache, with sustained transfer performance of up to 180MB/s. It is rated for workloads of up to 180TB per year and supports up to 64 HD camera streams, giving compatible systems room to handle multiple surveillance cameras simultaneously.

With support for systems containing up to 8 drive bays, an MTBF of up to 1 million hours and a 3-year limited manufacturer warranty, the WD Purple 1TB provides a reliable storage solution for everyday CCTV recording.
