Overview
The Western Digital WD Purple 14TB Surveillance Hard Drive is purpose-built for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. Its large 14TB capacity provides substantial local storage for multi-camera residential, commercial and business surveillance installations requiring extended footage retention.
Designed specifically for always-on surveillance workloads, WD Purple uses AllFrame technology to optimise write-intensive, low-bit-rate and high-stream-count recording. This helps reduce dropped video frames and improve video recording and playback across compatible security systems.
The WD140PURZ uses CMR recording technology with a 7200 RPM disk speed, 512MB cache and sustained transfer rates of up to 175MB/s. It supports up to 64 HD camera streams and workload rates of up to 180TB per year, making it suitable for demanding mainstream surveillance environments.
With support for systems containing up to 16 drive bays, the 14TB WD Purple is particularly suitable for larger NVR installations, high-resolution cameras and applications requiring longer recording retention. Western Digital backs the drive with a 2-year limited manufacturer warranty.
