Overview
The Western Digital WD Purple 10TB Surveillance Hard Drive is designed for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. With a large 10TB capacity, it is well suited to multi-camera CCTV installations that require longer recording retention and additional storage headroom.
Built specifically for always-on surveillance workloads, WD Purple is a more appropriate choice for CCTV recording than a conventional desktop hard drive. WD AllFrame technology is optimised for write-intensive, low-bit-rate and high-stream-count workloads, helping maintain reliable video recording across multiple cameras.
The current WD Purple 10TB WD102PURZ uses CMR recording technology with a 7200 RPM disk speed, 256MB cache and sustained transfer rates of up to 175MB/s. It supports up to 64 HD camera streams and workload rates of up to 180TB per year.
With support for systems containing up to 16 drive bays, 10TB of capacity provides a strong storage option for larger homes, businesses and commercial surveillance systems using high-resolution cameras or longer recording periods.
