Overview
The Seagate SkyHawk 3TB Surveillance Hard Drive is purpose-built for continuous 24/7 video recording in compatible DVR and NVR security systems. With 3TB of storage capacity, it provides a practical balance of recording space and cost for residential, retail and small business CCTV installations.
SkyHawk features ImagePerfect firmware, designed specifically for surveillance workloads to support smooth video capture across multiple simultaneous camera streams. It supports up to 64 HD cameras and an annualised workload rating of up to 180TB per year.
The reference ST3000VX015 model uses CMR recording technology with a SATA 6Gb/s interface, 256MB cache and sustained transfer speeds of up to 180MB/s. SkyHawk Health Management also helps monitor drive condition when used with compatible surveillance systems.
Built-in rotational vibration sensors and support for up to 16 drive bays make the SkyHawk 3TB suitable for multi-drive NVR environments. Seagate rates the drive for up to 1 million hours MTBF and provides a 2-year limited warranty.
